You can delete your Post Pilots account and everything in it at any time — including all data we obtained from Instagram. There are two ways to do it, depending on whether you can still sign in.
Before you delete: export your data
Deletion cannot be undone. If you want to keep a copy of your captions, post history and settings, export them first from Settings → Account → Download Data. You will get a machine-readable JSON file.
Your export does not include your Instagram access tokens. Those are encrypted and are never exported, for your own security.
If you can sign in
- Sign in at post-pilots.com/login
- Go to Settings → Account
- Select Delete Account and confirm
That is the whole process — no email to us, no waiting for approval.
If you cannot sign in
If you have lost access to your account — including if you removed Post Pilots from your Facebook or Instagram settings and can no longer log in — email support@post-pilots.com from the email address on the account, with the subject “Data deletion request”.
We will verify that the request comes from the account holder, delete the account, and confirm by email within 30 days. We do not charge for this and we will not ask you to stay.
What happens, and when
Immediately
- Your account is closed and you can no longer sign in
- Your email address is anonymised in our database
- Your Instagram access tokens are destroyed and we stop being able to reach your Instagram account entirely
- All scheduled posts are cancelled and will not publish
- Your uploaded images and videos are removed from our storage (Cloudflare R2)
Within 30 days
The remaining account record is permanently purged. Until then it exists only in a closed, anonymised state so that we can investigate abuse or billing disputes if one is raised. It is not used for anything else, and it is not recoverable by you.
Kept longer
- Anonymised security and audit logs — no longer linked to you, retained to investigate abuse and meet legal obligations
- Invoices and payment records — held by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record, for as long as accounting law requires
Revoking Instagram access without deleting your account
If you want us to stop accessing Instagram but want to keep your Post Pilots account, revoke our access from Meta's side: in your Facebook or Instagram account, go to Settings → Apps and websites and remove Post Pilots. Our access tokens stop working immediately and we can no longer read from or publish to your Instagram account.
Your Post Pilots account and the content you uploaded to it stay until you delete them using one of the methods above. If you would rather we erased the Instagram data we already hold while keeping your account open, email support@post-pilots.com and we will do it.
